Located in Graford, Texas, Dark Valley Ranch has been privately owned and operated since the mid-1800s. Boasting over 2,000 acres and rich with history, the land was founded amongst other nearby properties by Marcus L. Dalton, one of the earliest settlers of Palo Pinto County. An associate of legendary figures like Charles Goodnight, Oliver Loving and the Strawns, Dalton staked his claim and established what is now known as Dark Valley Ranch.
The property is characterized by rugged terrain and several tanks that attract abundant wildlife. Deer, hogs, coyotes and even the occasional porcupine can be found among the cedar and mesquite trees. A small cow-calf operation adds to the ranch's charm, paying homage to its agricultural heritage.
Dark Valley Ranch has long been dedicated to the responsible stewardship of its ranch holdings' land and oil resources. As Texas's relationship with oil began to grow in the early 20th century, so did Dark Valley's. Today, the ranch contains over a dozen wells across its properties.
